Technical managers graduating from the Technical Management BSc programme will be in possession of the necessary economic, leadership and IT skills that will enable them to run private enterprises and corporations, head economic organisations, and also to perform tasks linked to the preparation, operation, management, design and development of production processes, quality control and technical services.

Recent graduates from Business Administration and Management Bsc will have been given the skills necessary to analyse, evaluate and manage social and economic processes. The acquisition of practical knowledge will enable these graduates to lead and model financial, accounting, trading and IT processes of economic organisations. They will also be capable of applying methods as well as using hardware and software.
Majors: Marketing, Business Informatics, Business Organiser.

Recent graduates from Commerce and Marketing BSc will have been given the skills necessary to organise and manage the commercial activities of small and medium size enterprises. They will also be capable of analysing data of advertising, organising sales and market research, compiling efficient programmes and controling their implementation. The acquisition of practical knowledge will enable these graduates to analyse and plan the commercial processes and use software specific to commerce and marketing.

Technical Management, BSc

Qualification in Diploma: Technical Manager in the given specialisation.
Language: Both English and Hungarian

Objectives: Training Technical Managers who are equipped with appropriate knowledge in natural and technical science, economic and organisational skills which are needed for the integrated solutions in production and services regarding the material, financial and IT fields as well as human resources.

Duration: 7 semesters in full-time or correspondence courses, 12 trimesters, i.e. 4 years on a distance learning course.

Technical managers acquire knowledge of:

  • the scientific, human, economic and social structure of production and services;
  • how to set up and manage an enterprise;
  • the principles and results in related sciences (eg. Sociology, Psychology, Law) and Technology and Management;
  • the requirements for environment and labour protection, quality control, industrial law and customer care.

Our graduates have good opportunities in the following fields:

  • corporate management, project management, innovative strategies for implementation;
  • preparation of business plans and decision-making;
  • the management, organisation and inspection of technical, technological, manufacturing, logistical, informatical and quality controlling, fulfilling the operative tasks in production management;
  • information and human resources management;
  • overviewing the accounting system; supervision of quality and efficiency.

Requirements for Final Exam:

  • absolutorium (school leaving certificate) certifying that all the requirements set in the curriculum have been fulfilled and the on-site practice has been completed;
  • thesis accepted by thesis supervisor;
  • on-site practice, which is minimum 6 weeks without interruption, is a criterium pre-condition.
  • an accredited intermediate-level „C” language exam certificate or equivalents (Eg. GCSE certificate or diploma).

Business Administration and Management, BSc

Qualification in Diploma: Economist in Business Administration and Management.
Language: Only Hungarian

Objectives: training economic experts who are knowledgeable about economics, social sciences, applied economic sciences and methodology. Students are given the knowledge that will enable them to plan and analyse processes for economic organisations and institutions, as well as manage and organise entrepreneurial activities and processes.

Duration of training: 7 semesters full-time or correspondence course

A graduate holding a basic degree in Business Administration and Management is knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • he basic terminology of Economics, main correlations, methods affecting economic decisions and how to influence them;
  • directives in managing resources and production, means and methods for planning, analysing and evaluating, principles and methods in management, organisation and operation;
  • principles and methods regarding establishment of organisations and institutions, how to develop their structures and deal with restructuring.

Holders of this degree are able to:

  • apply problem-solving strategies in the preparation for corporate decision-making;
  • communicate efficiently in both domestic and international business environments, even in a foreign language
    • use IT skills
    • build their careers adapting to changes in their environments using their experience and continuous training;
    • work independently in various departments;
    • undertake managerial tasks in general economic and organisational positions.

On-site practice: for full-time students the last semester (without interruption) on company premises.

Requirements for final exam:

  • absolutorium (school leaving certificate) certifying that all the requirements set in the curriculum have been fulfilled and the on-site practice has been completed;
  • thesis accepted by thesis supervisor;
  • on-site practice: for full-time students the last semester (without interruption) on company premises;

Commerce and Marketing, BSc

Qualification in diploma: Economist in Commerce and Marketing.
Language: Only Hungarian

Objectives: Training economic experts who are knowledgeable about economics, commerce and marketing and possess all the technical skills and competences in this field. The economic experts are competent in demand based acquisition and marketing of different products and services, organization and management of commercial activities of small and medium sized companies and organizations and also possess sound knowledge in order to continue their studies in the second phase of their training.

Duration of training: 7 semesters full-time or correspondence course.

A graduate holding a basic degree in commerce and marketing is knowledgeable in the following areas of commerce and marketing:

  • social, economic and market environment, its mechanisms, organizations, principles of its operation and trends of development;
  • principles and conception of marketing, its set of tools and methods in business and non-profit spheres;
  • role of a marketing in operation of companies and institutions, correlation of marketing with other processes and functions of institutions;
  • operation, management and structure of trading companies, major work processes and techniques of commerce;
  • principles and methods regarding short and medium term decision making process as well as quick recognition of and compliance with market change.

Holders of this degree are able to:

  • organising and directing the commercial activities of small and medium size enterprises;
  • analysing data of advertising, sales and market research, compiling efficient programmes and controling their implementation;
  • analysing and planning commercial processes;
  • using software specific to commerce and marketing.

On-site practice: for full-time students the last semester (without interruption) on company premises.

Language criteria: for the BSc at least one intermediate (B2) level business language examination which is accredited by the Hungarian state, or an advanced (C1) level general language examination, also accredited., or a secondary school-leaving final language examination or certificate which has the same value.

Criteria for final examination:

  • fulfilling the rexuirements of the curriculum and obtaining the final certificate (absolutorium) of professional placement/traineeship;
  • thesis accepted by opponent.

 

Business Development, MSc

Qualification in Diploma: Master in Business Development
Language: Both English and Hungarian

The Business Development master course launched together with the University of West Hungary in 2008 is one of the most popular MSc courses in the country.

Objectives: Providing the students with an up-to-date, competitive and high-quality degree which is competitive even in the international labour market. Holders of such a degree are able to analyse the activities of an economic organisation and can tackle complex development programs; as a result of their mastery of innovation and economics, theoretical and methodical knowledge, consciously developed leadership skills and abilities they are capable of performing middle- and top-level managerial tasks.

Holders of the degree are knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • evaluation methods based on analyses reflecting the current position of enterprises, whilst taking into account internal and external opportunities;
  • determining the development curve of companies based on realistic (marketing, financial, technical-innovational) competitive advantage;
  • methods for preparing analysis and evaluation of resources for financing development;
  • project management skills for development;
  • professional communication skills necessary to interact effectively with everyone involved in the development process.

Holders of the degree are able to

  • understand the system of corporate finance;
  • evaluate the factors affecting future profitability according to their significance;
  • use different methods to map out the standard of the organisation;
  • apply the innovative methods for company development in a creative way;
  • make professional decisions;
  • communicate and negotiate efficiently.

Personal abilities and skills required:
problem-solving, creativity, decision-making, social sensitivity and responsibility, commitment to continuous professional and personal development, co-operation and delegation.

Previous qualifications, which are taken into account and may be accepted include:

  • for full credit points: BSc in Management and Business Administration, or International Business;
  • certain credits can be accepted in the following BSc courses: Applied Economics, Economic Analysis, Public Governance, Commerce and Marketing, Human Resource, Finance and Accounting, Tourism and Catering, Vocational Intsructor;
  • other Bachelor and Master’s courses can only be taken into consideration if certain credits have been acquired. According to the law (1993. LXXX.) regarding BSc courses at colleges or universities those credits can be taken into account which are approved of by the Credit Committee of the given institution.

Teacher of Engineering (MA)

Language: Only Hungarian

The Centre for Teacher Training and Pedagogy for Engineers (TMPK) and the Keleti Faculty of Business and Management (KGK) launched the Teacher of Engineering MA (Engineering Manager) course in September 2009.

Degree in diploma: Master’s (MA). Qualification in diploma: Teacher of Engineering (Engineering Manager).

Objectives: preparation for instructing theoretical subjects based on advanced level technical training in technical schools as well as in any accredited institutions. Preparation for research, planning and development in Pedagogy. Foundation for acquiring a higher degree.

Duration: 4 semesters. Form of tutition: correspondence course. Financing: state funded and fee-paying.
